Enchanted in Summer – Southern Cross Flutes Newsletter

Enchanted in Summer

I’m looking forward to a relaxing summer this time, with few markets and festivals means I’ll be spending more time exploring the hills and playing the flute.

How will you be using your summer? Got any plans for flute playing? Get in touch with me and tell me how your flute playing is going..

Let’s see what’s been happening in the world of Southern Cross Flutes….

What’s New

There’s always something new coming out of the Southern Cross Flutes Kapiti HQ. Here are some of the highlights!

Enchanted Journeys – The Essential Guide for the Native American Flute
Five months of fascinating work on this project has produced the most outstanding results. Tested with flute players around New Zealand and with international collaboration we’ve created a world’s first for NAF instruction, containing a book + DVD + eLearning media + online forum + ebook. This product has far surpassed my expectations and provides the user with an advanced format to learn the flute and engage with the learning media, both video and audio tools, on computer/iPad/tablet/and smart phone. It gets better, you can also personally request video support from Todd via the online forum and engage with the community of flute players. This information product does what several books in the past have attempted to do, and we’ve delivered in full colour an engaging and enriching tool that will enable you to learn and progress on the flute for years to come.

New Flute Range

You’ll find a widening range of high quality flutes, all individually crafted by Todd. If you like Black Walnut, Black Maire, Western Red Cedar, and Ancient Kauri, then these flutes are for you!
Have a peak at some of the new Love Flutes and Grandfather Flutes

Featured Flute

Black Walnut Grandfather Flute
Key of “D minor”
$590 including Nationwide and International postage and a free copy of Enchanted Journeys: The Essential Guide for the Native American Style Flute.
I have got a huge crush on this flute right now, it’s smooth and deep yet can handle being played loud or soft – and the grain is mesmerizing. As usual, the Black Walnut wood I find is totally unique, and it’s hard to surpass its acoustic qualities.
Check out this beautiful Grandfather Flute (you can watch the video of Todd playing this flute too).

Starter Flutes

These babies have been selling fiercly well due to their awesome  acoustical qualities and resonance, plus the highly responsive nature of the plastic. They also look pretty cool for a plastic styled NAF!

Harakeke Flute Case

Your Harakeke Flute Case is made from local Kapiti Coast or Wellington flax (harakeke in Te Reo Maori). It has an inner cotton lining, a button to fasten the opening, and a strap so you can take your flute everywhere. The Harakeke Flute Case couples excellent protection with stunning design and looks – making it a popular gift for the flute enthusiast.

These cases are woven by renowned local craftswoman, Jasmin van Lith, of Vine Leaf. Jasmin has 10 years experience in weaving, and has brought her skills to films such as Avatar and the Hobbit.
