Summer Wood Selection

I recently got to look through Graham Oliver’s collection of timber, recent finds of his from trees that needed to be felled. In short time I had discovered the most beautiful Black Walnut timber, as well as some stunning Kahikatea (swamp and natural varieties).

Additionally, Aly’s dad, John, gave me some recycled Rimu that he found at a building recycling yard. It turned out to be the most stunning Heart Rimu I have ever seen. I’m particularly keen to see this shaped into a flute asap!

During the year I’ll make a start turning these woods into flutes, and I already have a few grand ideas for Native American Flutes from this walnut and ancient kauri.

Contact me if any of this wood strikes your fancy for a flute!
